Car chugged and shut off; waited and it started again, but since had ticking noise. Dealer is saying new engine needed; stated hyundai is aware of the engine wearing out prematurely and hyundai is trying to help people out if it is past the warranty by paying 90% of the cost. Hyundai should pay 100% if they are aware that it is a widespread problem. And they say it is going to take 2-4 weeks to repair.

While driving the car suddenly stop and wouldn't restart. The vehicle was towed to a hyundai dealer, it was determined that a crankshaft bearing had failed. Hyundai no longer manufactures the engine, so now my only option is a used motor with 60,000 miles. I bought the car new less than three years ago.

I was told that metal shavings were found in the engine block and they also covered my camshaft position sensor. The metal shavings lead to the pistons not getting enough oil and it threw a rod, as a result of these medal shavings and little oil viscosity. The car was in motion, on the highway.
